A summer treat

Radish can be eaten raw as salads, raitas,chutneys (grate and grind it with fried urad dal,red chillies and tamarind), parathas and stuffing for dosa(fry onion and grated radish...keep it inside the dosa and fold), mashed radish(half cook, add chillies, lime juice and mash) and so many radish dishes.
Radish roundel:
----------------------
Powder( 1 cup ) rice corsely.
Do the seasoning with mustard, cumin seeds, red chillies.
Boil (1 and a 1/2 cups) of water and add the rice powder along with the
seasoning and cook till it blends. (you can keep this in the microwave oven also)
This will be half cooked.
Add grated radish ( 2cups) and salt.
Take a hand full and make little balls.
Steam cook in the idli pan.
Garnish with coriander leaves.
Have it with coconut chutney or curry leaves kuzhambu

Great Kala.....I didn't know that radish could be used in dosas also ! Why not , come to think of it :))

and i thought the radish was just that , something to throw into an indifferent sambar , when i want to irritate my better half ! great blog , kala , would have missed it . thank you :)

Actually we can make little changes in out pidi kozukattai, moru kali and other intersting ones by adding radish or grated carrots instead of coconut. I add saunf to thaalichukottal when my chilldren eat.

Taste fine on blog Kala. I make this with moong / toor / dhal and coconuts with Mor Milagais for Thaalikkal. shall try with mooli.

It is a bit amusing that only very few of the "poets" on Sulekha follow meter or even ryhme for that matter.. "free verse" is the vehicle of choice... Yet, I feel that free verse is something that is best used AFTER a basic understanding of meter, rhyme and construction, rather than before.. I mean there is more to poetry than just making a story look like a poem... but I am a rable rouser so don't mind me.
